The Red Priestess (season 2)

Melisandre is know for her red garments, all of them signaling her role as a Red Priestess and her dedication to the Lord of Light. From her red gown to her red cloak, her wardrobe always matches. And we’d be remiss to forget about her hair, which is as vibrantly red as everything else she wears.

It’s appropriate that the Lord of Light and his followers choose red as their color, especially given that red is the color of passion — and the one most often associated with violence. Red Priestesses certainly aren’t lacking when it comes to passion, and Melisandre is willing to do take vicious measures to get things done. Shireen knows this better than anyone, and Renly dies because of it.

Melisandre is also always seen wearing her ruby necklace, even during the show’s earlier seasons. Back then, it seemed believable enough that the Red Woman would own jewelry that complemented her attire, but now fans know that there was always more to the accessory than met the eye. That necklace keeps her appearance young and agile, even though she’s older than should be physically possible. It’s representative of her purpose: to stop the Night King at any cost.
