Episode 306: “The Book of Resistance: Chapter One: Knocking on Heaven’s Door”

Black Lightning is officially a part of the cool kid’s club thanks to the upcoming crossover. Up until now, we weren’t sure if there was ever going to be a connection. And I’m so glad there is because it’s made the whole thing even more exciting. Plus, in a past episode, we heard Supergirl’s name mentioned, so it was only a matter of time.

This week’s episode has Anissa struggling to stay alive. After being attacked by pseudo-Khalil’s poison, it doesn’t seem like she has much time left. Of course, she doesn’t want to tell anyone what’s going on, because why would she, right? I’ve never understood this sort of thing when it happens in movies and shows, but it is what it is.

There is a tough moment in the episode where Anissa has to remain cold and indifferent towards her father who comes to check up on her. He wants to apologize for pushing her to bring Tavon back to Freeland only for him to die. She’s barely keeping it together at this point but just pushes him out to leave.

Meanwhile, Jennifer learns her friend Brandon has similar but stronger powers than her. He’s come to Freeland seeking revenge for his mother and has been closely following Jennifer’s mom since she works with the man responsible.

There’s some action on the Markovian front, but honestly, I have no idea where they are going with all of that. It seems like a confusing plot jumbled together with everything else that’s going on. For instance, Lynn is hardcore struggling with her Green Light addiction and now she’s decided to leave home and Jefferson.

Come on, Black Lightning, I know we have some point to all of this, so let’s hurry up and get there.
