Episode 606: “License to Elongate”
Now we come to the point of the week where the Arrowverse really focuses on the upcoming Crisis. The Flash and The Arrow are the two shows that have been mainly focused on that event.
This week on The Flash, Ralph is the center of attention. Barry wants to make sure every member of Team Flash is prepared for a world without the Flash. This time around it’s Ralph who is set to get the classic Barry Allen treatment.
Ralph gets a lead in the Sue Dearbon case (in the comics, she becomes his wife), and Barry decides to tag along with him. It turns out the lead takes them to a fancy black-tie event where they go undercover as guests.
It’s a funny episode. Ralph sort of takes charge and channels his inner James Bond while Barry just blindly follows along. There’s a lesson for Barry here, which was my favorite part of the episode. He’s always so eager to turn into the Flash that he forgets that he is just as important and vital.
In fact, if he hadn’t been so keen on channeling his Flash side, he and Ralph wouldn’t have ended up in as much trouble as they did. It’s nice to see Barry save the day as himself rather than the Flash. Who knew Ralph was the hero we had been looking for all along?
And while Ralph and Barry were off doing their thing, there was some development on the Crisis front thanks to Nash. He figures out how to open up the chamber in Central City’s tunnels, where he believes the Monitor is hiding.
Where, oh, where are you, Monitor? We’re waiting for you.
