The Flash Episode 608: “The Last Temptation of Barry Allen, Pt. 2”

The Flash finally gives us what we’ve been waiting for all week long: a segue into the Crisis on Infinite Earths.

But before we get to that, let’s discuss the rest of the episode. Last week, we saw Bloodwork take over Barry, making him what Cisco refers to as “The Dark Flash”. I’m not a fan of Bloodwork. I don’t know who designed his look, but it’s not flattering in the slightest. Does anyone else think it looks like they shoved a bunch of tobacco into his mouth? So weird.

The episode spends most of its time focused on the battle between Bloodwork and Team Flash, who desperately try to get Barry back to normal. I loved seeing the Cisco/Iris dynamic in this episode because they work so well together. We don’t get moments with just them often, but whenever we do, it’s always fun.

Of course, by the episode’s end, Team Flash does what it always does: defeat the villain. Because that happens so reliably, it’s hard to get too invested with that part of the story. It follows the usual formula of introducing the villain, letting them wreak havoc, and finally taking them down. I know that’s typical, but it’s become pretty repetitive. I’m glad Bloodwork is gone!

With that said, I’m happy to report that The Flash gave Arrowverse fans exactly what we’ve been waiting for. In the final moments of the episode, Barry and the rest of Team Flash are spending what they believe to be their last moments together. It’s very heartwarming to see them all because the team has always been the strongest part of The Flash. I’m glad they gave us this just as the Crisis officially began and the red clouds took over Central City.

We’re almost there, folks. THE CRISIS IS HERE!
