Where (and when) is Adrian Veidt in new photo from Watchmen finale?

HBO airs the Watchmen season finale, “See How They Fly,” this Sunday night. It’s a race against time to see if Angela Abar can reach her husband Cal, aka Doctor Manhattan, before the Seventh Kavalry can kill him and take his powers.

She also may run into Agent Blake, the Doctor’s ex-girlfriend, which shouldn’t be awkward at all. Then there’s the question of where Looking Glass disappeared to, the mystery of Lady Trieu’s Millennium Clock, the fate of William Reeves, and is Adrian Veidt back to Earth yet or what? AND WHO IS LUBE MAN?

They’ve got rather a lot of questions to answer. Let’s watch the promo and see if it gives us any hints:

“Everything ends,” reads the episode synopsis. “For real this time.” Does that mean we’re not going to get a season 2? After how good this season has been, I hope not.

“See How They Fly” was written by Nick Cuse and showrunner Damon Lindelof, and directed by Frederick E.O. Toye. Now, let’s get into those photos.

Here’s Lady Trieu and her daughter/mother clone…

…and here’s Lady Trieu standing in front of the Doctor Manhattan phone booth to Mars, which is totally a scam, as we learned last week. What is her long game?

The Seventh Kavalry still has Agent Blake tied to a chair, and she’s still looking pretty displeased about it.

It’s been way too long since Agent Blake and Sister Night shared a scene:

And finally, here’s Adrian Veidt in what looks like his office in Karnak, his home in the Antarctic.

I’m going to speculate that we’re seeing Veidt talking to Lady Trieu in Karnak before Doctor Manhattan sent him to Europa. Maybe that’s why she bought that farm right before whatever that thing was that fell from the sky in the fourth episode. Ozymandias has totally been on Earth the entire time, you guys.

“See How They Fly” airs Sunday night at 9 p.m. EST, only on HBO.
