Cassian Andor show to begin filming in June 2020?
Disney+ is having massive success with its live-action Star Wars show, The Mandalorian. And the streaming service is already moving forward with a second Star Wars show about Cassian Andor, one of the main characters from the Star Wars prequel film Rogue One, with Diego Luna returning to the role.
Now, Discussing Film reports that the series will begin filming in June of next year. Rick Famuyiwa (Dope, The Mandalorian) is rumored to direct episodes of the show, with Rogue One writer Tony Gilroy also reportedly on board. Stephen Schiff, the executive producer on The Americans, is involved as well.
Discussing Film reports that that the show will feature flashbacks to Cassian’s past, checking in with the rebel fighter at 9 and 13 years old. If true, the flashbacks could take place during the Clone Wars, before the Rebellion and the Empire began fighting each other for control of the galaxy.
Rogue One is one of my favorite Star Wars movies, so I can’t wait to see Cassian Andor and K-2SO (Alan Tudyk) running around taking on spy missions for the fledgling Rebellion. Of course, Disney has yet to confirm any of this, so for now, let’s take this news with a grain of salt.
And if they want to get us news about the third Star Wars show in development, all about Obi-Wan Kenobi, that would be great, too.
