CBS All Access is bringing back a host of old favorites for Star Trek: Picard, which is set 20 years after Nemesis, the last Star Trek: The Next Generation movie. There’s Patrick Stewart as Jean-Luc Picard, of course, but also Brent Spiner as Data, Jonathan Frakes as Riker, Marina Sirtis as Deanna Troi and Jeri Ryan as Seven of Nine, a former member of the Borg Collective who broke free and developed her own identity.

Seven of Nine never actually interacted with Picard on his show — she was introduced in Star Trek: Voyager — but it makes sense for her to meet Picard here, since he was often at odds with the Borg. It makes even more sense to bring back Jonathan Del Arco as Hugh, another Borg drone turned free-thinking member of society. TV Line got ahold of the first picture of Hugh back in action:

Save for some stray bits of metal in his face, Hugh looks almost human now, a sign that he’s further disentangled himself from the Borg Collective in the years since we last saw him. As you can see, he’s come a long way:

Based on the photos we’ve seen, Seven of Nine has come even further in her development:

Overall, it looks like the Star Trek: Picard team is ready to give fans all the nostalgia they can handle, but don’t worry: there are plenty of new characters too.

Star Trek: Picard premieres on CBS All Access on January 23.

Next. Kingkiller Chronicle showrunner glad Showtime passed on the series. dark
