Revolution is brewing in Outlander’s new opening credits

Outlander fans were given the best Christmas Day present ever with a sneak peek at season 5’s opening credits. Unless you’ve been skipping the beautiful intro for the last four seasons, you’ll have noticed that Outlander’s opening credits always reflect the theme of the season.

“The Skye Boat Song” always provides the opening credits with an enchanting musical backdrop, but the imagery changes year to year. This time, we’re still in colonial America, and revolution is brewing.

There are a lot of updates from the season 4 credits here, but perhaps the biggest one involves stars Sam Heughan and Caitriona Balfe now being producers. I squealed with excitement as their names popped up big and bold under the word “producer.” It’s about time!

Outlander’s opening credits are known for being elusive and showing quick glimpses of the characters. You can always tell who it is, but you’ll never actually see their faces. This season, there’s a whole lot of Jamie and Claire, a quick glance at Brianna and Roger, and did we see Stephen Bonnet? Ugh, I hope not.

But don’t worry, despite the threat of a revolution and the potential return of Bonnet, there are still plenty of happy things to look forward to when Outlander returns. Case in point: Adso the cat, as seen in these new photos from TV Line.

Oh, how I look forward to Adso the cat this season! He will be the light in all the darkness that lies ahead.

Can it be February 16, 2020, already?
