The Amban Rifle

"Kuiil: “You need to drop your rifle.” Mando: “I’m a Mandalorian. Weapons are part of my religion.” (“Chapter Two: The Child”)"

Mando carries the super-cool modified Amban Phase-Pulse Rifle, which made its first appearance with Boba Fett in the 1978 Star Wars Holiday Special (in the animated segment titled “The Story of the Faithful Wookie”). He’s got a mercenary-modified blaster on his hip as well, but we’re all about that Jawa-exploding longarm.

Mando’s Amban Rifle is Jon Favreau-modified, so we’re likely going to have to wait to see everything it can do. So far we’ve seen it used as a sniper rifle firing disintegration bolts and as a close-quarters weapon delivering brutal shocks from its two-pronged attachment. The weapon is robust enough for Mando to swing it as a bone-busting battle-staff in a pinch. It’s also equipped with a listening device that allows Mando to eavesdrop on his enemies.

Mando also carries vibroblades, a kind of knife that vibrates, which we saw in his duel with the Mudhorn. The vibroblade vibrates or “sings” and can be designed as a knife, dagger or sword. The vibrating quality makes the blade super-effective in slashing through substances a normal cutting weapon could not penetrate, such as stormtrooper armor.
