Beskar Armor

Mandalorian warriors are legendary, and so is their armor. Mandalorian armor is made of Beskar iron (also called “Mandalorian iron”), one of the few materials strong enough to deflect blaster bolts and lightsaber blows. It’s made from an ore found only on the planet of Mandalore. Mandalorian metalsmiths like the Armorer have achieved a near-legendary status for their ability to forge the mighty Beskar. At the beginning of The Mandalorian, Mando has a patchwork armor set mostly forged from the less-impressive durasteel, with the exception of his helmet.

The traditional Mandalorian armor kit appears to be built with a standard set of pieces: the distinctive helmet, cuirass (torso), pauldrons (shoulders), vambraces (forearms), gauntlet plate (back of hand), cuisse (thighs) and greaves (shins), along with what looks like a padded undercoat. Codpieces and kneepads appear to be optional, and Mando doesn’t currently wear them. As of Episode 6, Mando has acquired nearly a full set of beskar, with the exception of his Shoretrooper gauntlets and durasteel greaves.

Chapter 3. Pedro Pascal is the Mandalorian in THE MANDALORIAN, exclusively on Disney+

The Mandalore vambraces are gadget-packed with utilities and weapons designed to fight Jedi in the previous war, including “whistling birds,” grappling lines, flamethrowers, remote control unites, whipcords, sonic repulsors and shield emitters. Mandalorian bounty hunters often wear jetpacks (as Boba Fett did), and Mando is looking to procure one.
