6. Sam and Dean finding love

It’s a well-known fact that the Winchesters, and hunters in general, don’t have the best luck in the romance department. The nature of their work is such that any significant others are going to be in danger. Additionally, they don’t always have the best taste in women and have had dalliances with demons, murderous angels, werewolves and Amazonian warriors. You could argue that them remaining unattached is the smartest option — no lass is endangered and they have fewer weaknesses their enemies can exploit.

Logic aside, you can’t help but wish the brothers would find love. Sam and Dean have experienced more loss than anyone should have to endure, they’ve suffered and sacrificed themselves more times than I can count. They deserve a tiny morsel of happiness.

Is romance on the cards for Sam? The brothers first met the deaf hunter Eileen Leahy (Shoshannah Stern) in season 11, when they ended up working the same banshee case as her. While she only appeared in a few episodes, there was always a connection between her and Sam. So of course she became a hellhound’s chew toy in season 12.

However, Eileen was one of the souls that escaped from hell through the rupture and she appeared to Sam in ghost form. Thanks to Rowena’s resurrection spell, Eileen was brought back to life and now lives in the bunker with the Winchesters. She will undoubtedly become their ally but you must’ve been unconscious if you missed the flirtation in the episode Last Call. There was drinking, cooking hangover breakfasts together, stolen glances and Eileen’s suggestion of doing something “fun” followed by Sam tenderly touching her hand — coming from him, that’s as good as a marriage proposal.

And how great would it be if Dean could reconnect with Lisa Braeden (Cindy Sampson) and her son Ben (Nicholas Elia) again or at least see them a final time? The time he spent with Lisa and Ben was the closest he’s ever come to living a “normal, apple-pie life.” Naturally, Lisa nearly died as a result of being possessed and stabbed by one of Crowley’s demons until Castiel healed her. At Dean’s request, Castiel wiped her and Ben’s memories as a way to keep them safe. Still, I’m rooting for this union.
