Netflix debuts spooky trailer for Locke & Key, and more stuff

Locke & Key is an American comic book series written by Joe Hill that I have never read, but reading over the Wikipedia entry, it sounds…full. There are demons, time jumps, the Revolutionary War, doors to other dimensions…and keys. So many keys.

Netflix is adapting the comic as a series to debut next month. The trailer, which follows the Locke family (hooray title puns!) as they settle into the not-at-all-creepy Keyhouse, makes more sense of things. Reading the plot in one big gulp rather than experiencing the story as it goes along probably wasn’t the right approach.

It kind of gives me The Haunting of Hill House meets The Chronicles of Narnia, and I’m okay with that. Locke & Key drops on Netflix no February 7.

If that was too scary for you, let’s switch gears and look at another Netflix trailer, for Saturday Night Live alum Leslie Jones’ comedy special Time Machine. And if that seems like an odd choice for this site, you may be surprised to learn that the special was directed by none other than Game of Thrones showrunners David Benioff and Dan Weiss! And Netflix wants you to know it, what with all the GoT references and the flames and their names big as life:

What with the live-tweeting and watching the show alongside Seth Meyers, Jones has been a huge Game of Thrones fan for years, so I’m sure this was a trip for her. I like to think that, after a decade spent dealing with horses and dragons and battles and location shoots, Benioff and Weiss enjoyed directing something a little smaller in scope.

Time Machine drops on January 14!

Next. The Witcher season 2 will have a “more linear” story, new characters, and more witchers. dark
