Production on The Falcon and The Winter Soldier has been delayed

Production on The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, the upcoming Disney+ series about the titular heroes from the Marvel Cinematic Universe (with Anthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan returning to their roles from the movies), has delayed production, according to Deadline and Variety. But before you start groaning and moaning about it, let us tell you the cause of the delay.
The show is filming, among other places, in Puerto Rico, which has been experiencing devastating earthquakes of late, with one even reaching a magnitude of 6.4 on the richter scale, making it the island’s biggest earthquake in a century. the Falcon and the Winter Soldier was set to begin shooting there this month, but given the conditions, production has been postponed. Our thoughts go out to those affected by the earthquakes.
I’m curious as to whether this will affect the show’s 2020 premiere timeline. I suppose it depends on when things can pick back up. Obviously, safety has to come first. Still, Disney is very specific about when it releases Marvel movies, as many of them set up movies to come. I imagine the same will be true of the Marvel TV shows. WandaVision is also scheduled to come out this year, for example. If The Falcon and the Winter Soldier is pushed back, will WandaVision have to hold off as well?
And there may be other Disney+ series experiencing production delays. Rumors have been circulating about Hawkeye being indefinitely postponed, per ScreenRant. However, since then, The Verge’s Julia Alexander has taken to Twitter to claim these rumors are untrue.
In any case, there has not yet been any official news regarding the delay. Although speaking of Marvel snags, we did recently learn that Disney’s Doctor Strange sequel has lost its director.
Phase 4 is looking a little chaotic, isn’t it? Let’s hope everything works out.
