Meet the new cast members of The Wheel of Time, human and animal alike!

Amazon continues production on its upcoming Wheel of Time show, and while there are still lots of characters to cast — this is a 14-book-long series, after all — we’ve gotten a lot of news lately about new people coming aboard. Let’s take a closer look!

From the mountains of Prague, the official Wheel of Time Twitter account account posted photos from the season table read. Most of the main cast cast members we’ve already met were in the mix. And there were a few new faces, and some new info.

Above, Rosamund Pike, who plays the Aes Sedai sorceress Moraine, is holding up the script for the fifth episode of the show, entitled “Blood Calls Blood.”

And thanks to actor Madeleine Madden (Egwene al’Vere) below, we also know the title of the sixth episode: “The Flame of Tar Valon.” Avid readers of Robert Jordan’s fantasy series will recognize these titles to also be chapter titles from the second book of the series. This may suggest that the first season will cover material from the first two volumes, but as of now, only six of the eight episode titles have been revealed.

Moving on from the scripts, the new photos introduced us to lots of new supporting cast members. While some roles were confirmed, others are still up for speculation. At this point, it’s unclear whether these character will have expanded roles in the show compared to the books. Let’s meet some of the newcomers.

First on the list is Peter Franzén, a highly respected Finnish actor known for playing King Harald Finehair on the TV series Vikings.  Although he has been cast in an undisclosed role, fans have suggested Franzén is playing Gareth Bryne, a military general and captain of the Queen’s guard.

Next is Maria Doyle Kennedy, who’s known for her work on television shows like The Tudors and Outlander. Her role is also unknown, but it’s possible she will play Siuan, the leader of the Aes Sedai known as the Amyrlin Seat. Those close to production had nothing but praise for her.

Priyanka Bose, who was cast back in December, formally announced she will be playing Alanna Mosvani. Alanna is an Aes Sedai like Moraine. However she is accompanied by two warders, or protectors, instead of just one. Paired with Priyanka is Taylor Napier, who will be playing Maksim, one of Alanna’s warders.

Jennifer Cheon Garcia has been cast as another Aes Sedai. We don’t know which, but that hasn’t stopped fans from guessing. Fans have been paying particular attention to the cryptography in this tweet:

The rumor is that she will likely play Leane, the knowledgable Keeper of the Chronicles, a position second only to the Amiryln Seat.

It has been known for some time that Daryl McCormack will be involved with the series, but we still don’t know how. More than any other cast member we’ve talked about so far, his role is up for debate.

Kate Fleetwood has been cast as Liandrin, yet another Aes Sedai. There are a lot of these women in The Wheel of Time; this is by no means the end.

Liandrin makes her first appearance in The Great Hunt, the second book in the series, further suggesting that the first season will incorporate elements from at least the first two novels.

The fun isn’t over yet. The biggest revelation may have been the casting of Bela the horse, Egwene’s shaggy-haired companion. Bela will be played by the exceptionally talented Archie:

Marcus Rudda, who plays Perrin Aybara, showed off his own horse. Based on the difference in white markings, this horse isn’t Bela. It might be Stepper, one of Perrin’s stallion’s known for its quick feet.

Amazon came through with a ton of information this week! But there are still some big announcements left. We’ll keep our ears to the ground.

And a special thanks to @WheelofTimeNews for the resources!
