Kodi Smit-McPhee as…Aegon III Targaryen

Aegon III Targaryen — also known as Aegon the Unlucky, Aegon the Unhappy, the Broken King, and most famously as Aegon the Dragonbane — is the youngest son of Rhaenyra and Daemon Targaryen. He becomes the King of Westeros at the end of the Dance of the Dragons, and is by all accounts a sullen young man.

Kodi Smit-McPhee is known mostly for his role as Kurt Wagner/Nightcrawler in the X-Men franchise. With a blonde wig and a perpetual frown, he’d make be perfect for Aegon III at the end of the Dance.

Aegon was deeply scarred by the Dance of the Dragons, as any young man who lost most of the people he cared about in an armed conflict would be. He hated dragons forever after, but did manage to keep the kingdoms together during his reign. House of the Dragon probably won’t get to that part of the story, but knowing the full arc of Aegon’s life could help Smit-McPhee dig into the beginnings of this meaty character.
