Netflix reveals release date for Castlevania season 3!
By Dan Selcke
The first two seasons on Netflix’s gonzo Castlevania series saw vampire hunter Trevor Belmont team up with sorceress Sypha Belnades and half-vampire Alucard to take down Dracula, the daddy of darkness himself. And then, at the end of season 2, they…did. They killed Dracula, parted ways, and that was the end of the story.
Only no, of course it wasn’t. Dracula may be dead and his army scattered, but lots of threats remain, mainly in the form of Dracula’s two minions: Isaac and Hector. Last we saw him, Isaac was working on raising an undead army of his own, while the vampire Carmilla had kidnapped Hector and was going to make him do heaven-knows-what.
Dracula dies all the time in the Castlevania video games on which the series is based, so I guess there’s no reason for the show just because he croaked. He has a way of coming back, although he doesn’t appear on the splashy new artwork Netflix just released:
Give it time.
You’ll also notice that Netflix revealed the premiere date for the new season: March 5, just around the corner!
That’s not a whole lot of lead time to build interest, but I suppose fans of Castlevania know what they’re getting: meticulously crafted anime untraviolence and a dark, gothic storyline. We don’t know how many new episodes we’re getting, but I hope the third season moves a little faster than the second, which took a while before it got to the stabbing.
