The 100 is wrapping up with its upcoming final season, but The CW doesn’t plan for that to be the end. One of the final episodes will serve as a backdoor pilot to a potential prequel series, and the cast is starting to come together!
This news comes from Deadline, which reports on three new cast members coming on board for backdoor pilot. They include Carnival Row’s Iola Evans, Conan the Barbarian’s Leo Howard, and Riverdale’s Adain Bradley. Now, since this is just a backdoor pilot, there has been no series order placed by the CW just yet, but if it does, we could be getting to know these characters very well.
If you’re curious as to who these three will be playing, check out the details below!
Iola Evans as Callie
"Whip-smart and passionate with a rebellious streak to boot, Callie (Evans) has spent years ignoring expectations in order to fight for the causes in which she believes. But when the apocalypse devastates the world she had been working so hard to save, Callie must find a new purpose, and future, for all that remains of humanity."
Adain Bradley as Reese
"Hard-working and headstrong, Reese (Bradley) has spent a lifetime in fierce competition with his beloved sister, Callie. But when the opportunity to finally prove his worth comes with an incredible cost, Reese must figure out what lines he is willing to cross to finally come out on top."
Leo Howard as August
"A Rebellious and passionate musician, August (Howard) is a member of a radical environmental group dedicated to saving the planet by any means necessary. After the apocalypse, he must figure out how to go on when everything he had been fighting for is gone."
I am so excited about this because I’m a huge fan of the original show, which follows a group of young people set adrift on a post-apocalyptic Earth. Humanity has taken to living in a massive space station after nuclear war devastated the planet, and these teenagers are the first humans to touch ground in almost a century, put down there as punishment for their criminal behavior on the space station. Over the years, this set up has made for stellar stories and remarkable characters.
The prequel is going to be set around 97 years prior to the world we know, which means we’ll see how things got to the point they did when The 100 first started. It’s sort of like what Fear The Walking Dead is to The Walking Dead.
I’m always a fan of learning how things got started, and in the case of this world, there’s been so much mystery surrounding the “start,” so it should be particularly satisfying. And it means that season of The 100 won’t mean saying goodbye to this world forever!
