Will Skywalker Saga characters appear in season 2?

The rumor mill has been grinding on this one. Positioned where it is in the Star Wars timeline, The Mandalorian‘s could logically include a number of classic Skywalker saga characters, such as Han Solo or Luke Skywalker as he combs the galaxy researching the history of the Jedi Order, or maybe even Boba Fett himself, if the Sarlacc belched him up offscreen.

According to Forbes, “Insiders have hinted that several established characters from the Skywalker saga’s feature films mythology will make appearances during the show’s sophomore season.” Hmmmmm. Considering that Star Wars: The Clone Wars and Rebels veteran Dave Filoni is serving as showrunner, we wouldn’t if it wouldn’t make more sense to draw legacy characters from those shows. After all, the Darksaber has already made an appearance.

Considering the free-form, questing, on-the-move nature of The Mandalorian, we suspect that Djn will be most likely to cross paths with other underworld characters designed to haunt the Outer Rim. If the Grand Hutt Council (Jabba Hutt was a member) crime empire still exists, some of their bounty hunters and criminals could have had a previously unseen interaction with Skywalker saga characters. We also have C-3PO and R2-D2 wandering around as well.

As a counterpoint, The Mandalorian is chugging along and telling its own unique story to great success — why muddy up this show’s budding mythology by encumbering it with complex and fraught elements from the movies?
