“Chewbacca, Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill), Ben (Obi-Wan) Kenobi (Alec Guinness), and Han Solo (Harrison Ford) in the Millennium Falcon. ? Lucasfilm Ltd. & TM. All Rights Reserved.”

What are the original Star Wars characters up to right now?

Even if they never make an appearance on The Mandalorian, its fun to think about what Luke, Leia and Han are doing at this point in time. The Mandalorian takes place nine years after the Battle of Yavin, where Luke blows up the Death Star, and about four-five years after the end of the Galactic Civil War. That means the famous trio (and they’re certainly famous in their galaxy far, far away) are not that removed from the last time we saw them at the conclusion of The Return of the Jedi.

Luke Skywalker: We know that Luke took off following the end of the Galactic Civil War, setting out on a quest to learn all he can about the Jedi Order so he can attempt to restore it. At the time of The Mandalorian, he is searching the far reaches of the galaxy, gathering information from planets like Moraband (the ancient home of the Sith) and artifacts like the Sacred Jedi Texts. At some juncture Luke will also obtain the Sith Wayfinder that can point the way to the hidden Sith planet of Exegol.

Princess Leia (Carrie Fisher) loads the plans for the Death Star battle station with a plea for help to Obi-Wan Kenobi into R2-D2 on the Rebel Blockade Runner.

Han Solo: Ah, Han. It looks like he’s taking to married life pretty well at this point in The Mandalorian timeline. We know he loves Leia and their four-year old son son Ben deeply, but he’s not really built for a sedate existence. Non-canon Star Wars lore has Han becoming a racing pilot, with both he and Leia leading increasingly separate lives.

Princess Leia Organa: Having been trained in the ways of the Jedi by her twin brother Luke, Leia decides she would be of better service to the New Republic in the field of politics. She hangs up her lightsaber and became a Senator, and soon mother to Ben Solo.

Chewbacca: Our favorite Wookie warrior also attempts to settle down in the years after the Galactic Civil War. Soon after the battle of Endor, Chewbacca returns to his home planet of Kashyyyk to live with his family, which is probably where he is in the current The Mandalorian timeline.

Lando Calrissian: Lando (Landonis Balthazar Calrissian) becomes a father shortly after the fall of the Galactic Empire, but she is kidnapped by The First Order. After failing to find the girl or discover why darkness is rising in the Force, he eventually turns to the hermit life on the planet Paasana.

Ben Solo (Kylo Ren): Ben isn’t part of the original series cast but since he’s the offspring of Han and Leia it feels okay to include him here. Born in 5 ABY on the planet Chandrilla, Ben would only be four years old in the current The Mandalorian timeline, so he’s probably more concerned with holo-video games than galactic conquest.
