Will we get a lot of aliens (including new ones) in season 2?

A lot of Star Wars aliens, many quite familiar from the original series, popped up in the first season of The Mandalorian, and we suspect we’ll get plenty more in season 2. We’ve seen Mythrol, Ugnaught, Bluurg, Nikto, Jawas, Trandoshans, Rodians, Klatoonians, Kubaz, Tusken Raiders, Devaronians, Twi’lek, Kowakian Monkey-Lizards, Banthas, Ardennians, Quarrena and Tooka, just to name a few.

As for brand new creatures, we’d suspect we’ll see some, but showrunner Jon Favreau sure seems to have a warm spot in his heart for the old favorites.

Favreau tweeted this maquette of a Gamorrean in a Twitter plug for season 2. Classic, but too blundering of a species to provide any real peril, perhaps?

What other races might show up? If Mando’s journey takes him into the wilder regions of the Outer Rim, we may run across some species entirely new to the Star Wars universe. Of course, we’d still love to see some old friends along the way as well, such as a Bith cantina band—but we don’t need any more Ewoks or Gungans, please.

Season 2 of The Mandalorian is scheduled to arrive on Disney+ in October of 2020.
