Chapter 4. The Child in THE MANDALORIAN, exclusively on Disney+

Where is Baby Yoda’s home planet?

Ah, the big question looming for season 2, at least as far as Mando’s overarching journey-quest is concerned.

Mando has no idea what planet Baby Yoda’s race is from.  Nobody seems to know, though it seems a good guess it might be in the Outer Rim somewhere. Baby Yoda’s Force-sensitive race appears to be extremely rare in the known part of the galaxy, and little is known about them.

As famous as Grand Master Yoda is, George Lucas never identified his species. When Baby Yoda made his appearance in “Chapter Two: The Child,” viewers fell in love with the little green imp, but we still have no idea where he came from. We first met Yoda on the swamp planet of Degobah in the original trilogy film The Empire Strikes Back, but he was just hiding out there following the rise of the Empire; it seems very unlikely that is the home planet of his alien civilization.

So what do we know? Baby Yoda is 50 years old (born somewhere around the year 41 BBY). We first see the Child as a prisoner of Nikto mercenaries on the planet Arvala-7, and highly valued as an asset by the shady underground boss, the Client, and his remnant stormtroopers. The Client works for the nefarious Moff Gideon, who may well be working for somebody else even more diabolical. The question is: why are they after this adorable 50-year-old infant?
