John Krasinski interested in directing Fantastic Four film, if Kevin Feige approves
Just a couple weeks ago, actor/director John Krasinski (A Quiet Place, The Office) said he’d like to be part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Specifically, he was interested in playing Mr. Fantastic, the leader of the Fantastic Four, Marvel’s first family. And now that Disney has the movie rights to the Fantastic Four thanks to its acquisition of 21st Century Fox, we’d love to see that happen sooner rather than later. With Krasinski’s lanky frame, he seems just about perfect for the role.
Are you listening, Marvel boss Kevin Feige? I hope you know a perfect thing when you see it.
Now, coming off rave advance reviews for his direction of A Quiet Place II, Krasinski wants everyone to know he’d be up to helm this hypothetical Fantastic Four movie, as well, and I am here for it.
“I’d totally be open to that,” Krasinski said when SyFy Wire asked him if he was interested in co-starring in a Fantastic Four flick with wife Emily Blunt. “I love the Marvel universe, I love watching those movies. They’re such a great time and so well done. I always say ‘In Kevin Feige I trust.’ He’s such a smart guy, I would never pretend to know what he’s thinking. But if he’s thinking about it, I’d be psyched.”
"If he believed in me to direct, then maybe I’d talk about it. But it’s one of those things that they have down so well that I wouldn’t want to mess with the formula."
For her part, Blunt is less than enthusiastic about working on something like this. “I dunno! For me, it’s all script-dependent, part-dependent,” she said. “I don’t ever think I’m going to sign onto something in a hypothetical way.”
Aw man, my dreams of Emily Blunt playing Susan Storm alongside John Krasinski as Mr. Fantastic have now hit a snag. I still remain hopeful.
