Maisie Williams will have a “beautiful” same-sex relationship in The New Mutants

After years on the shelf, audiences will soon be able to see The New Mutants, the long-awaited X-Men spinoff starring Game of Thrones star Maisie Williams (Arya Stark) as Rahne Sinclair, aka Wolfsbane. And according to Entertainment Weekly, her character will be in a same-sex relationship with Danielle Moonstar/Mirage, played by Blu Hunt.

“Rahne and Dani have a telepathic connection in the comics, and so we just wanted to extend that in the film and put that within reality,” Williams said. “If they really could understand each other on that level, then you’d probably end up falling in love with that person.”

After disappointing, undercooked LGBTQ representation in blockbusters like Beauty and the Beast and Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, some folks are skeptical of how it will be represented in The New Mutants. “[It’s] not something that is spoken about too much in the film,” Williams clarified, but added that she liked the same-sex love story because it didn’t feel like a “gimmick.”

"It’s not really a story about these two characters understanding their sexuality. It’s not centered around that and they don’t really necessarily label it. No one else does either and no one really questions it."

We’ll soon be able to see how the relationship between Wolfsbane and Mirage unfolds when The New Mutants hits theaters on April 3.

Speaking of Williams, she’s also on the cover of King Kong Magazine, rocking a very serious hairstyle. Check it out:

Williams isn’t the only Game of Thrones star making the rounds on Instagram. Here’s Gemma Whelan (Yara Greyjoy) doing…something…behind the scenes of Upstart Crow:

Moving along, Jerome Flynn (Bronn) is joining the lineup of an event dedicated to discussion of mental wellbeing, according to the Western Telegraph.

If you’re in the Pembrokeshire, Wales area on March 20 (11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.), then stop in at St. David’s Cathedral to see Flynn speak. Also, there’s a social media campaign encouraging people to talk about mental health using the hashtag #IPledge2Talk.

Finally, Variety reports that DJ Kristian Nairn (Hodor) has revealed the dates and locations for his 2020 North America tour.

“I realize some folks are drawn in by the idea of seeing ‘Hodor’ DJing,” Nairn said. “They quickly realize I’m passionate about dance music and this is an authentic music experience.”
