It would be difficult to notice the brief cameo of Alec Guinness’ (the original Obi-Wan Kenobi) granddaughter, Sally Guinness in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, but rest assured, she definitely is there.
First discovered by Nerdist, her cameo takes place close to the beginning of the movie, in a scene that sees Kylo Ren wearing his restored mask, in a First Order conference room. The cameo was revealed during a two-hour-long documentary that came with the digital release of the movie.
This isn’t the only time a relative of an original Star Wars actor has had a cameo in more recent movies. In fact, Carrie Fisher’s daughter Billie Lourd has had a much bigger part to play, portraying Resistance member Lieutenant Connix in all three sequel movies. Then there’s Warwick Davis’ son Harrison, who joined his father in playing an Ewok.
And while we’re talking about Alec Guinness and Obi-Wan Kenobi, it looks like another one of those amazingly odd Deep Fake videos has been published by YouTuber Shamook, this time putting Ewan McGregor’s face over Guinness’ original Obi-Wan.
These Deep Fake videos have become quite popular in recent months, with arguably the most popular being Robert Downey Jr and Tom Holland playing Dr. Emmett Brown and Marty McFly from Back to the Future. The results for this Star Wars one, in particular, are… well, take a look.
I’m looking forward to seeing Ewan McGregor reprise his role as Obi-Wan Kenobi for Disney+’s upcoming live-action mini-series. If The Mandalorian was any indication of the kind of quality we can expect from these shows, it might be something worth getting excited for.
