Two rounds into our Fandom Madness tournament has whittled 64 of sci-fi and fantasy’s most popular characters down to just 16. We’ve seen some big names exit early, and some surprising underdogs continue to march towards the championship. Before we take a look at the Sweet 16 matchups, let’s look at the action in the round of 32.
Star Wars continued to shine, as Luke Skywalker, Han Solo and Darth Vader all advanced to the next round, although number one seed Rey lost out to The Witcher’s Yennefer of Vengerberg. Game of Thrones had mixed results, with Jon Snow and Tyrion Lannister advancing, while Cersei and Daenerys were both eliminated. Likewise, The Wheel of Time split its matchups, as Moraine bested Stranger Things’ Eleven, but the Dragon Reborn, Rand al’Thor, went down to Jon Snow (our only remaining one seed).
Perhaps the most surprising victor is Lucifer, who as a sixteen seed once again triumphed over a seemingly more well known character in Star Trek’s Jean-Luc Picard.
It’s only going to get tougher for everyone involved going forward! Here’s our updated bracket for the Sweet 16!
And now, the polls! Remember, this is a simple question of, ‘Who’s your favorite?’ Choose the character you like best, not the best looking, richest or strongest. Voting for this round will run through Sunday evening at 5:00 p.m. CST, so rally your fandom and advance your favorite on to the Elite Eight!
