Jon Snow vs Han Solo

First up, we have representatives of two of the most popular franchises of the last 50 years, with Jon Snow representing Game of Thrones and Han Solo stumping for Star Wars. Both of these guys came in with several of their colleagues, but they’re the only ones who remain. How to choose between them…?

The case for…Jon Snow

Jon Snow is the hero we need right now. Just look at the guy’s resume. He started his time on Game of Thrones as an untrained novice at the Night’s Watch, but he put in the work and eventually rose to the level of Lord Commander and eventually King in the North. Sure, he was killed along the way, but no road is without bumps.

Jon always kept his eyes on the prize: defeating the White Walkers. While the other lords and ladies of the Seven Kingdoms were focused on securing the Iron Throne, he was focused on saving all of them from certain extinction, and managed to unite them well enough to actually get it done!

He’s also used to making hard choices. He’s been in love two people in his life: Ygritte the wildling and Daenerys Targaryen the dragon queen, and he ended up fighting against both of them because he believed it was the right thing to do. They both died in his arms, which is admittedly something you don’t want to make a habit of, but it does show you his commitment to doing the right thing.

A vote for Jon Snow is a vote for decency at all costs.

The case for…Han Solo

And now we come to Jon’s competition, the iconic Han Solo. Since this guy appeared on the scene in Star Wars in 1977, he’s been beloved. A rogue with a heart of gold, Han isn’t afraid to shoot first if things get hairy, but in the end, he always comes through and does the right thing. He came back and got bogies off Luke Skywalker’s tail at the end of Star Wars, and after that fought tirelessly for the rebel cause; not even getting frozen in carbonite could dim his will.

And all along, he was really charming and funny. Let’s face it: Luke Skywalker may have been the hero of Star Wars, but Han was why people showed up. Even as an older man in The Force Awakens, he still had that rebel spirit. The world cried when he was killed by his own son, Ben Solo, but in the end, Ben still followed his father’s example and turned back to the light.

Han Solo is an icon for good reason. A vote for him is a vote well considered.
