American Gods season 3 will have more episodes than normal

American Gods is known for controversy, drama and everything in between. Whether it’s been the rapid turnover of showrunners or disgruntled cast members that left the series, this show always seems to be in the headlines, and rarely because are talking about the actual content. You’d figure a show about Odin (Ian McShane) and his son Shadow Moon (Ricky Whittle) joining forces to wage war against a legion of new gods would be interesting enough without behind-the-scenes drama, but here we are.

But despite the roadblocks, the show has pushed on and we’re all set to get a third season. Not sure how we made it here, but yay!

And Whittle has been getting the word out on social media, revealing that we’ll be getting 10 episodes for season 3, rather than the eight we’ve gotten in seasons 1 and 2.

See, they’re turning this thing around!

I’m actually impressed they managed to pull this off, but given how much I love American Gods, I’m not complaining. Plus, that means MORE Shadow Moon.

Season 3 has a new showrunner (surprise, surprise) in Charles H. Eglee, who will pick up Shadow’s story as he heads to the sleepy (too sleepy?) town of Lakeside, Wisconsin. American Gods author Neil Gaiman himself confirmed that’s where the show was going next:

Apart from that, we don’t know too much about what’s coming. If there’s one thing this show knows how to do, it’s surprises and plot twists. And even if you’re a book fan, there have been plenty of changes made to the story already, so I think it’s an exciting mystery for everyone.

A season 3 premiere date has not yet been announced. If the show wrapped on post-production before the coronavirus shut down the entertainment industry, it should be in the clear, but we’re not sure.

But hey, whenever it does return, we get TEN episodes!
