Mandalorians aplenty in pics and teaser from the next Clone Wars episode

With just five episodes remaining in the final season of Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Disney+ looks like it’s ramping up the action and intrigue in this Friday’s net episode, “Together Again.” Last week, Ahsoka and the Martez sisters attempted to escape the Pyke syndicate, and along the way unwittingly ran into a group of Mandalorians skulking around in hooded cloaks.

Ahsoka, Rafa and Trace were recaptured by the Pykes, but not before drawing the interest of one of those mysterious Mandalorians: Bo-Katan Kryze, leader of the Mandalorian warrior clan the Nite Owls, and sister of Duchess Satine Kryze, the former leader of Mandalore who was killed in season 5.

Why is that important? Well, Satine was killed by Darth Maul while Bo-Katan was helping her and Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi (who was in love with the duchess) escape Mandalore. Bo-Katan saw Maul kill her sister, meaning she’ll likely help Ahsoka and her friends escape the Pykes, in order to help her wrest control of Mandalore from the iron grip of the former Sith Lord.

This also means we’re rapidly hurtling to the Siege of Mandalore story arc that will see Ahsoka and Maul face each other in a clash that Star Wars fans have been long waiting for, ever since we first heard about it in the season 2 finale of Star Wars Rebels.

Speaking of Star Wars Rebels, “Together Again” will also feature Ursa Wren, a member of the Nite Owls during the Clone Wars era and the mother of Sabine Wren, a member of the Rebels. Both Sabine and Ursa once wielded the Darksaber before handing it over to Bo-Katan. (And now Moff Gideon has it on The Mandalorian.) It’s all connected.

But back to the new episode, Ahsoka will get to do some snooping at some point.

According to the synopsis, Ahsoka will offer the Pykes a trade: she’ll stay if the Martez sisters are allowed to leave. She may not have finished her training at the Jedi temple, but Ahsoka is such a Jedi.

Notice how she figured out Maul was controlling the Pyke syndicate all the way from Mandalore? It ends up that Maul forced the Pykes to join his Shadow Collective when he took over the planet — we even saw how far his reach extended in the final moments of Solo: A Star Wars Story when he appeared to Qi’ra (Game of Thrones star Emilia Clarke) and ordered her to join him on Dathomir after Han Solo and his friends escaped her.

Want to hazard a guess as to where the Darksaber had been kept in secret during this time? Yep, on Dathomir. Showrunner Dave Filoni and company really do know how to draw connections.
