Sophie Turner does Joe Jonas’ makeup as we enter peak quarantine

We’ve all been in coronavirus quarantine for how many weeks now? It’s gotta be over 100, right? Anyway, things have started to get interesting, as people make their own fun and share it with the world. That’s a long introduction to telling you that Game of Thrones veteran Sophie Turner (Sansa Stark) convinced her husband Joe Jonas to let her do his makeup, and then shared it on her Instagram Stories:

Very evocative.

My sincere hope is that, as quarantine drags on, Turner will put Jonas in a series of looks of increasing complexity, until eventually he’s in full wig and outfit and performs a lip sync to “Jenny of Oldstones.” We can do it, team.

The quarantine is bringing out the best — or at least the weirdest — in lots of people. Did you happen to catch any of Lena Headey’s recent beauty videos, for example? The woman formerly known as Cersei Lannister recommends taking a spatula and spreading butter all over your face to make it look like you’re still getting touched by the sun, which is normal and fine and everything’s fine, so don’t worry about it.

But quarantine isn’t all about makeup tips. Turner is still finding time to promote her newest project, Survive, where she plays a troubled young woman named Jane who finds herself in a harrowing situation after a plane she’s on crashes in a mountain range. “The subject matter is so important to me, so everything felt like that’s where I needed to go,” Turner told Variety. “[This character] is very set on duping her way out of this [mental health] facility, and she’s going to go kill herself. She’s incredibly depressed, she doesn’t feel like there’s any hope. But she ends up fighting for a life she didn’t want to live in the first place.”

"I tried to come at it from as truthful a point of view as I could, just from my past experiences. Without going into too much detail, I’ve definitely been where Jane has been. It wasn’t the biggest stretch for me, I suppose."

To prepare for the role, Turner talked to people living with mental conditions like bi-polar disorder and PSTD, as well as drawing on her own life. The show is available on Quibi right now, and is getting good reviews, with folks singling out Turner’s performance in particular. Hopefully it’s a hit!

Finally, Turner also talked to Variety a bit about the possibility of returning to the X-Men franchise, where she played Jean Grey/Dark Phoenix in two movies. “I don’t even know what the deal is whether Disney wants to continue on the X-Men journey,” she said, referring to how Disney purchased 20th Century Fox, which had use of the X-Men license, not long ago. “I would always be down to go back to that character and that cast and that experience — it was just so much … we had the best time on those movies. I would kill to go back.”

So there you go: quarantine is confining people to their homes, but there’s still plenty going on. And I’ll check back about that lip sync.
