Team Uhtred

Uhtred (Alexander Dreymon): Uhtred has always danced between his loyalty to Wessex and his desire to reclaim his home of Bebbanburg. And although Uhtred helped secure Edward’s throne, he is not bound by oath to Edward as he was with Alfred. That means Uhtred will be free to attempt to take back Bebbanburg, and from the trailer, he appears poised to do just that.

On the flipside, Uhtred will not lightly abandon his friends in Wessex, so we can count on him being right in the thick of things regardless of what happens at Bebbanburg.

Finan (Mark Rowley): Uhtred’s most trusted friend, Finan goes where Uhtred goes, and there’s not a crack of daylight between them. We’ve never learned much about the Irishman’s past, but we can count on Finan to support Uhtred no matter what trouble they find themselves in.

Sihtric (Arnas Fedaravicius): Sihtric has proven himself a stalwart member of Team Uhtred and that doesn’t seem likely to change. Even Sihtric’s desire for a family of his own, something Fedaravicius talked to us about, won’t keep him from supporting Uhtred in his adventures.

Abbess Hild (Eva Birthhistle): After a stint as a warrior, Hild chose a life dedicated to God once again, and built a nunnery on Uhtred’s estate. It’s there Hild is likely to remain, though that doesn’t mean she can’t play a part. Hild remains one of the few people capable of squelching Uhtred’s worse instincts, and someone Uhtred relies on for counsel.

Osferth (Ewan Mitchell): Baby Monk, as he is affectionately called by his comrades, is perhaps one of the few members of Team Uhtred who might not follow Uhtred everywhere. Not for lack of loyalty, but perhaps out of a desire to no longer walk the path of the warrior. Osferth was a reluctant combatant during season 3, and we could see that idea expanded upon in season 4.

Stiorra (Ruby Hartley): Season 4 will jump ahead in time, and we will see Uhtred’s daughter Stiorra old enough to hold her own among the warriors in her father’s retinue. We don’t expect a mild or timid teenager, but rather one willing to throw herself right into the fire. Hopefully the rest of Team Uhtred can keep her from getting burned.

Young Uhtred (Finn Elliot): Uhtred’s family has always named the oldest son Uhtred, and that continues here. Unlike Stiorra, however, we’re not quite sure where Uhtred the Younger will fit into things. We’ve seen images of Young Uhtred wearing a cross, a religion Uhtred the Elder despises, so things might not be going too well between the two Uhtreds.
