Whose body is Jamie covering in the promo?

In the Outlander season 5 finale promo, we get a very quick glimpse of Jamie in Claire’s surgery room covering a body. I don’t want to jump to conclusions and assume the worst, but I can’t help but wonder that body belongs to someone we love and adore.

I won’t go as far as saying it’s Claire, because Outlander is unlikely to write off her character anytime soon. It’s if it’s not her, who is it?

At the end of the last episode, we see Jamie light the cross, alerting his men that it’s time for war. The entire season we assumed the war they’d be facing was the start of the American Revolutionary War, but it’s not. The finale is all about saving Claire from her captors, and now that Jamie has officially made the call to arms, it’s on.

Maybe the body we see is a casualty of what will go down? Maybe it’s someone we don’t even know. And while that doesn’t make it okay, I know I’ll breathe a sigh of relief if it’s someone we don’t know.

But if we were to think about the options, there are plenty of possibilities. We’ve got Marsali, Fergus and Ian, to name a few. Or even one of the Beardsley twins. It’s tough to say, but based on Jamie’s face, he’s angry, so whoever it is, he’s not happy about it.

Alternatively, the body could belong to one of Claire’s captors (please let it be Lionel Brown) or someone involved on the other side.

Luckily, we only have to wait a couple more days to find out who it is.
