Will Fraser’s Ridge burn?

I know, I know: the last thing we need right now is to think about all the horrible things that could happen in the Outlander season 5 finale, but I can’t help it. One question that has been on my mind for quite a long time is whether we’ve passed the moment that Claire and Jamie were supposed to perish in a fire at Fraser’s Ridge.

This is the very thing that brings Brianna to the past in the first place, so it has to be something they address, right? Given how horrible things are supposed to get, maybe we’re approaching that point in time.

I’m not sure if you guys caught this tiny but very important detail from the most recent episode. Usually, Outlander doesn’t go out of their way to inform us what year they’re currently in, but in “Journeycake,” they did. They specifically pointed out that it’s autumn of 1772. Coincidence? I think not.

In the obituary Brianna reads back in her time, we didn’t see an exact date for when this fire was to take place, but it was clear that it happened in the 1770s. Is it possible that we’ve finally reached that point?

This doesn’t mean Claire and Jamie will die in the fire, but it does mean that Fraser’s Ridge may not be safe. Jamie did subtly mention to Lord John Grey during the episode that the house is bigger now, with the upstairs complete.

I don’t know guys, this all can’t be a coincidence, can it? I can’t ignore the signs that a fire might be in the Fraser’s future. And if that fire does indeed happen and Claire and Jamie live through it, what does this mean for the future? They were meant to die in this fire, but if they don’t, history has been altered, and Back to The Future has taught us that this is never an easy thing to contend with.

Could it possibly tie in with wherever Brianna, Roger, and Jemmy end up?! Maybe they’ve just walked through the stones into a completely different future because Jamie and Claire didn’t die in the fire.

Food for thought until Sunday.
