Get familiar with the world of The Wheel of Time
By John Fallon
Shadar Logoth
Shadar Logoth was once a great city. During a great war, the people destroyed themselves by becoming as dark and evil as the Shadow itself. The buildings that had once been magnificent are broken-down and decayed. A shapeless evil that manifests as a pale white fog now haunts the city. Not even monsters will enter the malicious ruins unless forced.
It is a city avoided by merchants and travelers whenever possible. Any who enter in the daylight feel unseen eyes upon them. If someone were to carry even a pebble they find in the city outside its walls, they will be tainted by the city’s evil, which will eventually spread like an illness. Dangerous under daylight and deadly at night, Shadar Logoth is no place you want to be. Though it is a fairly short ride away from the nearest inhabited settlement, Shadar Logoth is avoided by most everyone…unless they have no choice but to enter.
When everything comes together, it’s going to be a joy to see this world brought to life by Amazon’s talented production team. The company has poured a lot of money into the project in hopes that The Wheel of Time will be a massive success.
The signs are promising. There aren’t many official set photos coming out of the studio at the moment, but the countries they have chosen to film in are beautiful. Check out the photos below to get a feel for where the show might be shooting.
With many productions shutting down due to the coronavirus, we may have to wait a little longer than anticipated before seeing more from The Wheel of Time show. But what updates there are are worth following, because the series could take us to a world like no other.
