Omis, Croatia as…Ebou Dar

Ebou Dar is the capital city of Altara, located on the southern coast of the continent. The city is built around a large bay, with a river dividing it in two. One side contains the palaces, homes, and shops of the upper and middle classes, the other is home to the lower classes.

Ebou Dar is described as a beautiful city with pale white buildings and plenty of canals as well as broad streets and bridges. Large buildings and palaces are scattered throughout the city, richly decorated with tall spires or domes.

What we’re looking for is a “historical pirate city split by a river.” The first place to look is at the legendary pirates’ lair of Omis. Situated at the end of a picturesque canyon, it’s backed by sheer walls of mottled grey rock topped with craggy peaks. The architecture doesn’t quite fit the bill for Ebou Dar, and it’s quite small, but with some VFX, this location be magic.
