Mehrangar Fort, India as…Tear
The city of Tear is a rich port city with a supposedly impregnable fortress at its center. It is dominated by the Stone of Tear, which towers above the city like a small mountain. The Stone is unlike anything in the world, an immense structure believed to be mankind’s oldest surviving stronghold.
The most prominent geographical feature of the surrounding country is the vast river delta, a maze of waterways and swampland called the Fingers of the Dragon. The whole of the city will be very difficult to show on screen, so let’s focus on finding a great stand-in for the Stone of Tear.
For this, we’re venturing away from the usual European locations and heading to Mehrangar, one of the largest forts in India. It stands 410 feet above the city and is enclosed by imposing thick walls. Inside its boundaries there are several palaces known for their intricate carvings and expansive courtyards, while a winding road leads to and from the city below. As close to the Stone of Tear as one can find.
