Idris Elba as Ishamael
The Betrayer of Hope, like Lanfear, is one of the infamous Forsaken. He goes by the name Ishamael, but was previously known as Elan Morin Tedronai. Driven by a jealous rivalry with Lews Therin, he became the most powerful of the Forsaken and their leader during the War of Power. Later, he was officially granted direct authority over all of the Dark One’s other followers.
Ishamael is a handsome man in his middle years, with gleaming dark eyes and a cruel smile. He has a pleasant voice, too. But don’t be fooled, because he’s utterly mad and terrifyingly dangerous. He’ll likely be the villain of the first season.
And who better to play such a captivating villain than Idris Elba? His work in movies and shows like Beast of No Nations, Thor, The Dark Tower, The Wire, Luther and much more speaks for itself. Even though he mostly plays the good guy, he can easily apply his charisma to this wicked role.
