Con of Thrones delayed over the coronavirus

I think we all knew this was coming. Con of Thrones, the world’s premiere convention dedicated to Game of Thrones and A Song of Ice and Fire, was scheduled to go down in Orlando, Florida from July 17-19, 2020, next month. But with the coronavirus pandemic forcing the delay or cancellation of many events around the country, it’s no great surprise that Mischief Management, the company that organizes this and several other conventions, has announced that Con of Thrones will be delayed.

“Normally, we would be moving our events to different cities each year. Instead, we have worked with local venues to assure the events we promised can still take place,” said Melissa Anelli, CEO of Mischief Management. “With more time to properly develop these events we are looking forward to an incredible 2021. Our entire community has been expressing such kindness and patience during this unprecedented time, and we thank them and can’t wait to see them again.”

The good news is that Mischief Management already a new date and a new venue, although it’ll be in the same city: August 6-8, 2021, at the Hyatt Regency Orlando. If you bought a ticket to attend Con of Thrones 2020, that will be honored at Con of Thrones 2021. You can also transfer the ticket to a 2022 event. And if you want a refund, contact Mischief Management by June 19, which gives you a couple of weeks.

I’m bummed that Con of Thrones won’t be happening this year, because it’s always a good time, but I think was the right call given everything that’s happening.

Other Mischief Managements events have also been delayed, including:

  • LeakyCon Orlando, a Harry Potter convention, will now take place June 25-27, 2021, at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, FL
  • LeakyCon Denver will now take place October 29-31, 2021, at the Crowne Plaza Denver Airport Convention Center in Denver, CO
  • PodcastCon will now take place August 21-23, 2021, at the McCormick Place Convention Center in Chicago, IL

See you in August 2021!
