Ten sci-fi/fantasy shows to binge while sheltered in place
By Daniel Roman
4. Parks and Recreation
Okay, this one isn’t a sci-fi or fantasy show, but we had to include one pure comedy on here; it doesn’t all need to be doom and gloom, right?
Admittedly, there are an awful lot of great comedies that could easily be substituted here…but for my money, there’s nothing better than Parks and Recreation. It’s hard to keep dwelling on serious matters when you’re watching Deputy Park Director Leslie Knope (Amy Poehler) throw bags of dog poop at miscreant teenagers, or Ron Swanson (Nick Offerman) pull out his own tooth.
Years after it’s finished its run, Parks and Recreation is still just as good and just as funny as ever. Is there a chance you’ve already watched it? Sure. Will it still make you laugh till your sides hurt? You betchya.
All seven glorious seasons of Parks and Rec are currently available on Netflix, Amazon, and Hulu, so no matter what your streaming persuasion is you can take a trip back to Pawnee and hole up there to forget your woes.
After all, it’s what Ron Swanson would do.
