6. Outlander

Starz’s juggernaut series about a World War II nurse who accidentally time travels to 18th Century Scotland is a great outing if you’re looking for a bit of romance in your fantastical journeys. At this point, Outlander‘s got a full four seasons and is moving full-steam ahead into its fifth, and it’s still as good as ever.

When Claire Randall accidentally finds herself transported back in time through a circle of magic standing stones, she’s forced to blend in and learn how to cope with her new reality. Little does she know that only those who have something calling them from the other side can travel through the stones, and that there’s a handsome Scot named Jaime Fraser waiting for her.

The adventures of Jaime and Claire are numerous, captivating, and filled with everything from epic battles to goofy bard performances. A word to the wise: Outlander can be seriously intense in some of its darker moments, and an absolute tear-fest in its uplifting ones.

The first three seasons are available on Netflix, and Season 4 is streamable on the Starz app. New episodes of season 5 air every Sunday at 8:00 p.m.
