The Last Kingdom recently aired its excellent fourth season, and if you’re like us, you’re already thinking about season 5 and the further adventures of Uhtred son of Uhtred, and maybe even his son, also named Uhtred. We might not know yet when it’s happening, but when it arrive, it’s bound to hit the ground running. How could it not, after all that happened in season 4? We saw plenty of longtime characters depart the show, several new rulers ascend to their thrones, and more.
From finding Uhtred a new love interest to King Edward or his heirs uniting England, there’s always plenty going on, and we are here for all of it. Of course, we’re not likely to get everything on our wishlist, but we hope at least some of this comes to pass
Destiny is all!

5. More Sigtryggr
Sigtryggr is one of the most intriguing new characters we’ve seen on The Last Kingdom in a while. He started season 4 by annihilating the Welsh before moving on to sack Winchester. Finally, King Edward and Aethelflaed granted him Eoforwic in Northumbria.
Sigtryggr was a Dane of another kind, using his mind and suppressing his emotions to realize his goal of a home for his people. Sigtryggr inspires loyalty in his men by putting their needs above his own, and that loyalty was rewarded with rich lands. But where does the Viking leader go now?
The lawless character of Northumbria should work to his advantage, since there’s no centralized resistance to challenge his rule. True, Wihtgar and Bebbanburg lie to the north, but we’re guessing the former will too busy fending off the Scots to pose any real threat. Northumbria also boasts a large population of Saxons, a people Sigtryggr is now trying to understand, which brings us to our final hope for the newest lord of Northumbria.
Nominally sent north as a hostage, Uhtred’s daughter Stiorra travels alongside Sigtryggr, and their relationship has all the signs of a blossoming romance. Marrying Uhtred’s daughter would grant Sigtryggr an ally of the highest order, but Uhtred could end up benefiting the most. Unlike the Saxon rulers, Sigtryggr might not deny Uhtred troops to retake Bebbanburg, as it would remove a potential rival in favor of his theoretical father-in-law. Which sounds exactly like the sort of move the hyper-intelligent Sigtryggr would make. All of which leads us to our next item…
