The Lord of the Rings is a timeless story that has taken many forms over the years. There are the books by J.R.R. Tolkien of course. There are the supplementary materials he wrote but didn’t publish in his lifetime, like The Silmarillion. Then you’ve got the Ralph Bakshi animated movies from the ’70s, the Peter Jackson moves from the ’00s, and the more recent Hobbit films.
But when all else fails and you’ve consumed all the Lord of the Rings stuff you can and you still want more, you can always get it emblazoned on your body. Take a tour with us of some of the most impressive Lord of the Rings tattoos on the planet, featuring a few special guests:
Speaking about the early days of writing his story, J.R.R. Tolkien famously said, “I wisely started with a map.” These fans look like they’ve followed his example:
"I know it’s not the most original but I’m really proud of my new tattoo. from lotr"
And I love the Eye of Sauron on the wrist, right below Mordor. Or above, depending on how the arm is positioned.
"I’ve seen some tattoos lately in this sub, so here’s mine! Hope you guys like it! from lotr"
And this guy has the map creeping onto his chest; hey, it’s a big map.
We’ve got a lot more where that came from.
