Doctor Who news: The Daleks will make their Titan Comics debut in Time Lord Victorious #1
By James Aggas
Details have been revealed for Doctor Who: Time Lord Victorious #1 – Titan Comics’ Tenth Doctor tie-in to the multi-platform event!
A great deal has been revealed already when it comes to Time Lord Victorious – so much in fact that it’s difficult to keep on top it all! We know that BBC Books will be mainly covering the Tenth Doctor’s role in the multi-platform event, which looks like it will take place shortly after The Waters of Mars. We know that stories of the Eighth Doctor will be told in Big Finish’s audios, while the Ninth Doctor will be facing Vampires in the comic pages of Doctor Who Magazine.
But what of Titan Comics? What stories will they be telling as part of this exciting epic? Recently, details have been revealed regarding the first of two over-sized comic issues, and they’re definitely surprising ones. Time Lord Victorious #1 will feature the Tenth Doctor, which isn’t a surprise. But, as revealed by Jake Devine, Editor of Titan’s Doctor Who Comics, it’s not exactly the Tenth Doctor who’s central to the event.
"Titan’s comic story is quite unique, as it features the Tenth Doctor as seen in the recent Thirteenth Doctor comic series, so he’s not reached his so-called victory over time yet. But what has been fun to explore is the Doctor getting a glimpse of what’s to come and foreshadowing his own dark turn."
The story will take place shortly after Ten’s recent appearance in The Thirteenth Doctor comics. How will this story connect to the events of Time Lord Victorious?

Dalek debut
So it’s set much earlier for the Doctor compared to his other appearances (which at the very least include the books The Knight, The Fool and the Dead and All Flesh is Grass). His recent appearance in the Thirteenth Doctor comics took place during the events of Blink, towards the middle of his life, which is certainly an interesting choice. However, it will likely help this particular comic story to stand on its own terms. It’s clear that there are many different storylines contributing to Time Lord Victorious, but it’s been continually stressed that the stories told in each medium can be enjoyed on their own.
What’s equally interesting is that the Daleks will be featuring in this issue. That by itself isn’t necessarily big news – after all, Dalek stories are pretty common in Doctor Who across all media. But it will be the first time that they’ve appeared in a Doctor Who comic from Titan. After six years, it’s quite surprising that it’s taken them this long to make an appearance.
How much will Time Lord Victorious #1 tie into the main event? Will #2 continue the same story, or will it feature another tale connected to the event? We can’t wait to find out.
Time Lord Victorious #1 is written by Jody Houser and features art by Roberta Ingranata and colors by Enrica Eren Angiolini. It will be published in Sep 2020.
