The Mandalorian spinoff novels and comics are coming
Between the books and the shows and movies, the Star Wars universe just keeps getting bigger. Not long ago, Disney announced Star Wars: The High Republic, a new series of books and comics that will explore what the galaxy was like a few hundred years before Episode 1. Now there’s another initiative on the way, this time focused on its Disney+ series The Mandalorian.
The Mandalorian made a huge splash when it premiered back in November of last year, quickly becoming one of the most in-demand streaming series. And Marvel and IDW Publishing will now be bringing fans tie-in novels and comics that expand on Mando’s adventures. The first installments, including an original novel written by Adam Christopher and published by Del Rey Books, will arrive this December, giving Star Wars fans a few items to add to their holiday wish lists. The plot of this book has yet to be revealed, but one can assume it will be a novelization of the events of the first season of the show.
The Art of The Mandalorian (Season One), which should be concept art and illustrations from the series, will publish alongside the novel. It comes from Phil Szostak, the Lucasfilm creative art manager who put together similar art books for The Force Awakens, The Last Jedi, and The Rise of Skywalker. Like those works, The Art of The Mandalorian (Season One) will be published by Abrams Books. It’ll arrive on December 15.
As far as future projects go, there’s no word on additional novels or comics just yet, but The Mandalorian: The Ultimate Visual Guide by Pablo Hidalgo and The Mandalorian: Junior Novelization by Joe Schreiber are also on the way. Although there’s no release date confirmed for either of those, they give fans something to look forward to, as do the unannounced children’s books and comics that will spin off of the series.
With so much content coming out, it’s a great time to be a Star Wars fan — and that’s not to mention the fact that the second season of The Mandalorian slated to arrive later this year. Where it will take Mando and Baby Yoda remains to be seen, but it promises to be just as exciting, if not more so, than the first.
