Original stars will have more than just cameos in Jurassic World: Dominion
By Ariba Bhuvad
I might just be getting nostalgic here, but for my world, 1993’s Jurassic Park is still the best movie in the franchise. In all the subsequent movies, I’ve never had the same thrill I got the first time I saw the Tyrannosaurus Rex onscreen, running after the jeep while we were all on the edge of our seats freaking out at how realistic it all seemed.
That’s part of the reason why the next movie, Jurassic World: Dominion, is so exciting. It marks the return of three actors from the original Jurassic Park: Sam Neill (Alan Grant), Laura Dern (Ellie Sattler) and Jeff Goldblum (Ian Malcolm). And they won’t just have fleeting cameos. Speaking to Yahoo Movies UK, Sam Neill spilled some exciting tea:
"We’re all the way through the film, Jeff, and me, and Laura. […] We’re all going to be living in the same joint for three or four months, so that’s going to be fun. And everybody loves Chris [Pratt] and Bryce [Dallas Howard] as well, so I think we’ll be a very happy bunch."
This marks the first time since the original that all three cast members have reunited for a film. Individually, they’ve appeared in movies that followed after, but never all together. Goldblum was in The Lost World, and Neill and Dern showed up in the third installment.
I don’t know about the rest of you but this is going to be epic. Basically, they’re uniting the old with the new giving us the “Avengers: Endgame of Jurassic movies”, according to Chris Pratt. A feeling Pratt can personally attest to given his role as Star Lord in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Jurassic World: Dominion will also mark the return of Jake Johnson, Omar Sy, Daniella Pineda, Justice Smith and B.D. Wong, original cast members all. Although the movie will recast the role of Lewis Dodgson, of the baddies from the first movie:
I’m excited to see how they rope this character back into the story — he was a bit of an enigma in the original movie.
We don’t know much else about Jurassic World: Dominion, but quite honestly, I’m not sure we need to. Past and present are coming together to give us what I hope is the best Jurassic Park movie in decades.
Jurassic World: Dominion halted production due to the coronavirus but it is set to be amongst the major tentpole movies to resume production, and as you can see, director Colin Trevorrow is giving us behind-the-scenes teases in the meantime. All I know is that 7-year old me is freaking out with excitement.
