D.B. Woodside (Amenadiel) confirms he’s returning for Lucifer season 6

Lucifer fans have been rolling in it lately. Not only did they finally learn that the Netflix show — about what happens when Satan (Tom Ellis) abandons his throne in hell to run a nightclub in LA — would return for a fifth season very soon, but also that a sixth season is on the way! And who knows? The fifth season was originally supposed to be the last, so it’s possible there’s even more Lucifer coming down the pipe.

But for right now, let’s just focus on what we know. Part of the reason that it took awhile to confirm that season 6 existed was because Tom Ellis and Netflix reportedly couldn’t come to an agreement on a new contract. Happily, that got worked out, and the devil will be back in business.

But Ellis isn’t the whole show. There’s also Chloe Decker (Lauren German), an LAPD detective whom Lucifer helps out — I guess running a nightclub wasn’t making full use of his talents. Then there’s the angel Amenadiel (D.B. Woodside), Lucifer’s older brother who did not join him in his rebellion, preferring to stick with their dad God. Writing on Twitter, Woodside has confirmed that he will be back for season 6, and that he’ll be directing an episode:

Despite having fought on opposite sides of Lucifer’s heavenly war, the brothers have gotten fairly close; the war was millions of years ago, I guess.

There’s no word on when season 6 may start filming, but the first half of season 5 will be out on Netflix on August 21.
