The Boys, Amazon’s anti-superhero superhero show, will premiere on September 4, airing its first three episodes together with the rest coming out on weekly after that. News about The Boys is coming out so fast it’s even stretching beyond season 2.

The latest is that The Walking Deads very own Jeffrey Dean Morgan, who plays the villainous Negan on the AMC show, is reportedly in talks to join the cast of season 3.

If you keep up tabs on Jeffrey Dean Morgan’s Twitter, this might not come as much of a surprise. Earlier this year, Morgan responded to a tweet urging him to join the cast for season 2. He said how much he loves the series, adding that he’d “go play with that gang anytime” and tagging The Boys showrunner Eric Kripke while he was at it. Hint hint.

Thankfully, Kripke jumped at the chance at making a deal with the actor. “I’ll write it, and if you’re avail, come shoot it!”

And more recently, Kripke has continued teasing the prospect of Morgan getting on the show. Speaking to Collider, he said that he and Morgan are having conversations about a potential part. Of course, with the actor being on The Walking Dead, it would be very difficult to give him a starring role in The Boys. “There’s one role we’re already talking about. He has to, uh, we have to like coordinate. Because you know, he’s on The Walking Dead, so he has another home,” Kripke said. “But we already talked about one role, and there might be a potential other that we’re talking about.”

"Just this past week we were literally texting back and forth about trying to figure out how to get him on the show. I don’t think it’s a done deal yet, but the will is there, and we’re both talking about it."

Don’t you just love it when things like this come together? Obviously, it’s still too early to get excited, but with Kripke eager to get Morgan to sign a deal, and with Morgan being a fan of the show, it seems like it’s just a matter of time!

Before any of this, however, we’ve still got The Boys season 2 to look forward to. Check out the new teaser trailer:
