The Legend of Korra is coming to Netflix in August!

Avatar: The Last Airbender got a huge boost when it landed on Netflix. Now, the successor series The Legend of Korra is coming!

With its return to Netflix in May, Avatar: The Last Airbender has seen a resurgence in popularity, with the Nickelodeon series remaining on the streaming service’s list of Top 10 shows for 58 days straight. It’s record-breaking, and a sign that the series has aged well, despite originally premiering back in 2005.

Of course, those who have enjoyed The Last Airbender — either for the first time or on a return trip –may be wondering what to do after they’ve watched Aang, Katara, Sokka, Toph and Zuko overthrow a tyrannical ruler. There’s still no word on when Netflix’s live-action adaptation will arrive, so what now?

Well, there’s good news on that front: according to one of Netflix’s official Twitter accounts, The Legend of Korra will be joining its predecessor on the platform next month:

Along we the announcement, we get a video of a young Korra wielding the elements and telling the world that she’s the Avatar and that everyone has to deal with it. If that’s not enough incentive to give her story a shot, I don’t know what is.

Korra is the Avatar who succeeds Aang. She’s a Water Tribe girl who inherits a far more peaceful world than Aang does. (Naturally, it doesn’t stay that way very long.) The series is set in a more modernized world, with Bending being meshed with technology, giving the whole thing a serious steampunk vibe.

The Last Airbender‘s return to Netflix had already sparked debates about which series is superior, and the addition of The Legend of Korra is sure to escalate that argument, particularly after new fans get a load of it. On August 14, expect the conversation to really take off!
