When a vampire starts stalking the streets of London, Jago & Litefoot find themselves divided as the second series of the Doctor Who spin-off begins.

The second series of Doctor Who spin-off Jago & Litefoot continues directly from where the first series left off. A killer is on the loose in the streets of London, and Litefoot is convinced that it’s a vampire. To solve the case, he needs the help of vampire expert Gabriel Sanders. But is Sanders everything that he appears to be…?

Litefoot & Sanders explores the interesting idea of what happens when Jago and Litefoot don’t work together. It’s bold to tell such a story so soon – after all, including their original TV appearance, we’d only had six stories featuring the two before this point. But their friendship had already been so firmly established by the end of Series 1, and as a result, it makes the story of the two apart worth exploring.

Indeed, Justin Richards explores in-depth exactly how Jago and Litefoot feel about their friendship. There are sweet little moments with each of them, and it’s particularly clear with Jago that he’s rather insecure about the idea of Litefoot investigating a case without him.

Series 1 showed us how strong Jago & Litefoot’s friendship was. But could it be torn apart in Series 2’s opening episode?

Who is Gabriel Sanders?

Of course, the fact that Litefoot is working with someone else begs two key questions: who is this new investigator? And why does Litefoot want his help instead of Jago’s? The mysterious Gabriel Sanders is central to this episode – and beyond, as the ending reveals…

David Collings clearly had a lot of fun playing this role. He really throws himself into this mysterious and sinister character. It may not take the listener long to work out who the villain of the story is, but that doesn’t stop Sanders from being a perfect fit for the macabre world of Jago & Litefoot.

Giving us a great exploration of Jago and Litefoot’s friendship while also introducing us to a dangerous new villain, Litefoot & Sanders kicks off the second series of Jago & Litefoot in a strong way. More than that: it throws in a truly shocking ending that promises nothing will be the same again…
