Sam Heughan’s Top 10 Best Moments as Jamie Fraser on Outlander

6. Episode 409, “The Birds & The Bees”: Jamie and Brianna meet
Looking back at “The Birds & The Bees” is bittersweet, because while it’s the first time Jamie and Brianna met, the episode is centered on Brianna’s rape. There are a lot of conflicting emotions in this one. Were we celebrating the meeting of father and daughter, or trying to process what Brianna had gone through at the hands of Stephen Bonnet?
Well, I’d like to focus on the happier part of this episode. Sam Heughan finds humor in the scene where Jamie meets Brianna, because the last thing he expects is for his daughter to approach him in his time period…while he’s finding a corner to pee.
Things are made even more awkward when Jamie thinks Brianna is just another woman trying to hit on him. But the moment he realizes it’s Brianna, the look on his face says it all. Heughan gives us a dead-on mixture of horror and excitement. It’s a subtle moment that lands because of Sam Heughan’s talent.
I love, love, love this interaction between Brianna and Jamie, even though it comes so hot on the heels of a traumatic experience. It’s the start of a confusing but meaningful father/daughter relationship, and one we had waited a very long time to see.
Kudos to Sam Heughan (and Sophie Skelton) for bringing this moment home!
