“Real Heroes Wear Masks” in The CW’s new Arrowverse posters

The CW debuts posters with our favorite heroes from the Arrowverse protecting others by donning face masks. “Read Heroes Wear Masks.”

As the COVID-19 health crisis continues across the nation and world, health experts are emphasizing the importance of wearing a mask more than ever, and it looks like TV networks are joining them in that pursuit. The CW’s latest Arrowverse posters encourage fans to wear a mask by making the act look heroic. And the best way to do that is by putting masks on our favorite heroic characters.

The posters, released earlier this week, showcase some of the network’s biggest superheroes donning a face covering. Characters like the Flash, Supergirl, Black Lightning, Stargirl, Superman, and Sara Lance still look pretty epic, even with half their face covered — and they’re keeping others safe.

There’s also an adorable poster of Legends of Tomorrow’s Beebo wearing a mask, which obviously outshines the rest:

For these images, The CW used the tagline, “Real heroes wear masks.” During a time when keeping others safe from the coronavirus seems to be controversial, these kinds of campaigns push viewers to do the right thing, and they give us unique images of our favorite characters that will no doubt be interesting to look back on in a few years.

Sadly, this could be the most we see of these Arrowverse characters for a while. With the health crisis more or less bringing production in Hollywood to a standstill, many shows are just now starting to resume filming on their current seasons. In the Arrowverse, BatwomanSupergirl and The Flash were forced to end their 2020 runs early, and they aren’t expected to return until 2021. Even series like DC’s Legends of Tomorrow and Black Lightning, both of which were able to conclude filming on their most recent seasons, won’t be returning in the fall.

Luckily, when the Arrowverse does jump back into action, fans will have plenty of new content to enjoy (including the new series Superman and Lois). And the quickest way to get back to normal — or some semblance of it, anyway — is by listening to health experts. Maybe The CW’s onto something with its latest campaign.
